Breaking: Global Christian Leaders Unite for Peace Summit

More than 200 church leaders representing denominations from over 50 nations gathered in Geneva this week for a landmark summit focused on peace, reconciliation, and the shared witness of the global church. Organized by the World Council of Churches in partnership with the Lausanne Movement, the three-day gathering addressed conflict zones on every continent and explored how local congregations can serve as agents of healing in fractured communities.

Archbishop Daniel Kimani of Nairobi delivered the opening address, calling on the assembled leaders to “resist the temptation to let national identity override our identity in Christ.” His remarks drew a standing ovation and set the tone for a series of candid conversations about the church’s role in mediating political conflict, sheltering refugees, and advocating for the dignity of every human being regardless of ethnicity, nationality, or background.

A joint declaration signed by all participating leaders affirmed their commitment to prayer for peace, practical collaboration across denominational lines, and increased support for Christians facing persecution worldwide. The full text of the declaration will be released to member organizations this Friday. Ignite Media will publish a summary and analysis in our upcoming edition.
